NEECCo Lunch and Learn: Ouseburn Climate Challenge Project
Join NEECCo and Groundwork to learn more about their Ouseburn Climate Challenge Project which is working within the Ouseburn catchment area to improve water quality, engage with local communities and provide education about water in relation to rainfall, drinking, waste and more.
The 6 month project is funded by a Water Environment Improvement grant and National Lottery Heritage Grant to work with partners to deliver capital and revenue work.
Taking advice from the Ouseburn Citizen’s Jury and a steering group including NEECCo, Northumbrian Water, Environment Agency, Tyne Rivers Trust and Groundwork, the project will focus on the Ouseburn river catchment and increase participation through better access, engagement, volunteering and training.
This presentation will be delivered by Lesley Silvera, Community Projects Managers at Groundwork and Sophie Turnbull from the Environment Agency.
Since joining Groundwork 5 years ago, Lesley has worked on various community projects from river restoration to mining heritage, from meadow enhancement to an Ouseburn Soundscape and River Sculpture. She is currently working on water quality improvement proposals in the Upper Wansbeck.
This presentation aims to be an informal, informative session for anyone within the Ouseburn community or engaged in environmental action within the region, or simply those with a curiosity about environmental initiatives within the North East. All are welcome and we look forward to seeing you there.
Following the presentations there will be an informal Q&A.
Hosted by NEECCo in partnership with Groundwork and Environment Agency.
