COP26: What does Nature do for us? Healing Nature

As the COP26 Climate Action Summit takes place in Glasgow between 1st & 12th November, take a break and join Durham Wildlife Trust, proud partners of NEECCo for a late morning or lunchtime walk to enjoy nature and learn what it does for us.

As we walk through semi-natural habitat along the built-up river don tributary we will look at the ecosystem services provided by habitats and species found here. From soil health, including stabilisation and fertility, flood alleviation, carbon sequestration, refugees for pollinators and the food industry, predators and pest control, pollutant capture, diversity and resilience and public health, and mental wellbeing. Nature gives us so much, let’s take some time to notice & values these things and look at what we can do to support the continuation of these essential services.

This event is delivered by the Healing Nature project, working with our partners to restore habitats for wildlife and connect people with nature across South Tyneside, Gateshead, and Sunderland.

The project is funded by the Green Recovery Challenge Fund and our partners at Gateshead Council, South Tyneside Council, and Sunderland Council.

Location: River Don Saltmarsh, Slake Road, Jarrow, NE32
