Groundwork NE & Cumbria have been asked by the National Lottery Heritage Fund to submit a full application to the Green Recovery Challenge Fund.
Our Expression of Interest was submitted in late March and covers 6 estuaries across the north east.
We are proposing ‘Revitalising our Estuaries’ as a response to North East coastal environments and communities being disproportionally affected by recent health, economic and environmental crises. Our estuaries and associated communities have been largely overlooked and now need environmental and economic enhancement whilst creating more green jobs.
We want to employ teams of young people through the Kickstart scheme to support the delivery of our nature based solutions projects on the Blyth, Wansbeck, Tyne, Wear, Tees and Esk. These teams will also deliver wider community and corporate engagement work on adjacent land where landowner consent is given. Deadline 30th April 2021 Please do get in touch by the 30th April if you have any comments on our proposals or would like to be involved.
