Join North East businesses in creating a brighter future. Friday 22 October, 9.30am - 11.45am
On Friday 22 October 2021, the Zero Carbon Tour will make a stop in the North East on its journey to the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow.
The tour has been making its way across the country to showcase the efforts being undertaken – both locally and globally – to aid in the transition to a net zero carbon economy and highlight how businesses can reduce costs while reducing emissions. Participants in the online event, to be held on October 22, will hear from Jonathan Withey, Head of Business Development at sustainability experts and Tour organisers, Planet Mark.
Jonathan will explain the concept of net zero carbon and why it is critical for businesses. He will discuss how businesses can set their own credible net zero carbon targets in line with the UN-backed Race to Zero’s criteria and implement plans to achieve them. Guest speakers from North East business will join the event to discuss their projects and give examples of how their projects are helping to reduce carbon emissions for their business and the wider community.
Please share this opportunity with your networks. Businesses in the North East can also take part in the UK’s #TogetherForOurPlanet campaign by pledging their support to cut carbon emissions and protect the planet by signing up to the SME Climate Commitment.
The SME Climate Commitment demonstrates a business’s commitment to halve greenhouse gas emissions before 2030 and reach net-zero emissions before 2050. Find out about the SME Climate Commitment here: https://smeclimatehub.org/sme-climate-commitment/
