This week is National Tree Week, the UK’s largest annual tree celebration and The Tree Council are encouraging everyone to get involved.
Across the country, people will be planting thousands of trees to mark the start of the winter tree planting season.
“Trees and hedgerows are some of the most powerful tools we have in the fight against climate change. And the good news is that we can all make a difference by planting a tree! Every tree will help us grow a greener future together.”
The Tree Council are offering a downloadable tree planting guide to help you find out more about what tree to choose, where and how to plant it. You can also find your nearest Tree Warden Network if you want to plant as part of a team to see what’s happening in your area.
Or if you’re simply a lover of trees, you can use their map to find remarkable trees to visit in your area including the 1,000 year old Capon Tree at Jedburgh and the Sweet Chestnut at Elswick Park, Newcastle.
